Isolde of Brittany was born to Hoel, the Duke of Brittany and a druid girl. Isolde was raised by both her parents, in her father's castle, along side her brother Kahedin until Hoel passed away when Isolde was twelve. Mother, son, and daughter were kicked out by Hoel's brother who had been taking charge of Hoel's son from his first marriage.
Isolde and her family were taken in, albeit a bit reluctantly, by a group of near-by druids (who are as loyal as they are peaceful). They lived with the druids for three years before her mother convinced her uncle to take Kahedin in to guide him. Because no matter what they might think and say, he was legitimately of noble blood. She died soon after the uncle said yes.
Isolde refused to go with Kahedin and Kahedin, quite frankly, is alright with that. He believes her safer with the druids than at court with its intrigue and her potential of being married off. The uncle is just happy about having one less "half-druid" brat to look after and the half-brother doesn't care as long as they stay out of his way.
They visit each other whenever they can, however.
It is a badly kept secret that the former Duke of Brittany has a daughter somewhere. Most recall her name but a lot less recall what she looks like, and as Isolde is not an uncommon name, they don't have much to go on. Gaius knows though (probably) because Gaius knows everything.
----
Isolde is practiced at making pottery and fixing wooden things. She also is learning healing remedies from the druids.
She has a falcon named Bird. He was her father's when she was seven and chose her rather than Kahedin, something that her brother never understood and is still a bit sore over.
